Site clearance must be carried out with care for the wildlife that may be present in trees, hedgerows and scrub vegetation. Bird nesting season typically runs from March to August, and the removal of trees and hedges during this period can constitute an offence under the Wildlife and Countryside Act unless a prior survey has confirmed no active nests are present.
We are experienced in working to ecologically sensitive timelines, scheduling clearance outside the nesting season where possible, or commissioning pre-clearance nest checks where works are required during sensitive months. We can also advise on the presence of other protected species, including bats, which may roost in trees earmarked for removal, and where necessary we will recommend the appropriate ecological survey before work commences.
If your project involves a planning condition or environmental management plan, we are accustomed to working within those constraints and can provide the documentation your ecologist or planning officer may require.
Our accreditations satisfy the pre-qualification requirements demanded by most principal contractors and construction companies. We can provide method statements, risk assessments and COSHH assessments as required. Our SSIP approval via the ARB Approved Contractor scheme also covers CDM-related scope, making us a compliant subcontractor for notifiable construction projects.
We have worked with Tarmac — one of the UK’s largest construction materials businesses — across multiple sites. This long-standing relationship reflects the reliability and professionalism that major construction clients demand from their arboricultural subcontractors.
