In order to extend its operation, a local quarry asked us to remove a poplar plantation that was growing on land set aside for gravel extraction. An environmental assessment was carried out prior to felling to ensure no nesting birds were disturbed. After felling, the trees were fed whole through a chipper and the chip removed from site. In total, 90 tonnes of wood was felled, chipped and removed in a day. This pales into insignificance when compared to the weight of sand and gravel that the quarry can now access beneath the ground.
